Are you tired of the wired clutters that are around your audio video devices? If you are trying to make your floor clean of all the mess then you must be thinking of trying to buy something that has fewer wires. Wireless speakers are an alternative you should consider. Wireless technology is constantly improving, so to buy a wireless speaker set from a reputed company, a conservative approach is the best way.

There is one major drawback in the wireless version also: it is the interference of the signals. Generally, there is a specific range from the transmitter. A mechanism based on the transmission of radio waves can penetrate the walls and doors without any problem. The interference problem may be coming 10 other electrical appliances that are there in any household. The source of the problem might be computers, microwave oven, or a cordless phone.

Recoton was the company that introduced 900 MHz wireless speakers for the first time under three brand names. In April 2003, however, the company went bankrupt. Thomson bought the division from Recoton and went on to continue with the production.

Right now, there are some technical and handling problems associated with wireless speakers. Branded or not, their competence level is lower than that of their wired brothers. With technological advancement happening every day, those problems will hopefully be sorted out soon.

Wireless system basically works on two simple methods. One is on the radio waves, and the other is through infrared signals. Today we can even get a system which has an output of 2.4 GHz, a digital spread spectrum that allows the sound to get controlled by the distance from the listener, and QOS or Quality of Service channel which helps the system to avoid any potential interference to other electrical appliances.

Infrared system is the one which transmits the signal via the infrared technology. Due to technological problems, the sound gets dropped here. For the infrared system to work, it needs direct line of sight between the object and the source. So, if a barrier comes in between the source and the speakers then it will cease to work.

A redundant transmitter can help in the reduction of those possible sound dropouts. A wireless system is not completely without wires. They need external power source for amplification.

RF or Radio Frequency, on the other hand, uses radio waves which can pass trough solids as well as other physical obstructions. The RF technology uses better set of transmitters and receivers to negate the problems of signal interference.

RF signal uses radio waves; so do radio, microwave oven, computers and some other electrical appliances. A slight interference problem still remains though.

Although the performance element of the wireless speakers is somewhat suspect, one of the main reasons for using them is their ready usability. Unpack them from the bag and turn on the speakers. It is done. Also drilling holes in the wall or putting wires under the carpet is also not there if you go for the wireless version of the speakers. So many people will automatically go for them when they consider the ease with which they are installed.
