Recently I decided to purchase my husband some new comfortable pants for lounging around the house. After finding a great deal at my favorite online store, I found this wonderful sale on the cotton pants he likes with the tie waist. After clicking on the appropriate size, I had to choose a color: midnight black, candy apple red, melon green, or banana rama yellow! After careful deliberation, I went for the fated candy apple red. After all, the clothing color charts I investigated showed a nice bright red color that was simply marvelous and would go great with some of the shirts my husband has. Besides, the other colors didn’t have the same appeal.
So I did what any loving wife would do. I ordered these candy apple red wonders and waited for my favorite person in the whole world – the mailman. Yes, I like my mailman. He always brings me the nicest surprises mixed in with the copious number of bills he brings. Since I love freebies, I usually have coupons, samples, or other niceties at least a few times a week.
Well, my order arrived at lightning speed! The mailman did his usual when he delivers packages. He rings the door and stands back with package in hand hoping to not lose an arm as he hands me the package. I have yet to rip his arm off in the excitement, but I can see it on his face – he is waiting for the day. Alas, I took my package and thanked him properly. Then it was off to savor my fateful purchase.
Sitting at the kitchen table, I careful cut the wrapping tape securing the package in safety. Perhaps I enjoy the package, but I have often thought it is the cutting of the tape I enjoy. Opening that package to discover the wonders of what I know is already inside. Needless to say, I was in my moment of heaven carefully opening the box as a child would a birthday present and with no less glee.
After carefully, opening the package, I pulled out the contents. Then did my check. One polo shirt. Check! Two new pairs of socks. Check! One new button down shirt. Check! But wait, where are my candy apparel red pants? And what did they give me? Why are there pink pants here?
By all rights, they did look like the pants I saw when I made the purchase. But these are hot pink!
I checked the invoice. One pair of candy apple pants was indeed enclosed. After checking the clothing color charts online, I am still convinced that the colors are different… right?
Needless to say, some things are not as they seem. Clothing color charts should come with a warning. Colors in image are not always the same in person. I have discovered that they do look pink if I adjust monitor settings though. So yes, I suggest making sure you know what you are getting into when you choose your colors.
My husband was a sport though. He wears those hot pink pants everywhere, and when he gets razzed by family or eyed by strangers, he will hold his head high and proudly say, “Real men wear fuchsia.”
