Most people think of wine and a few brands, a few types come to mind. These are the more popular types of wine and the most often noticed but there are hundreds of different types from a variety of places. Some of the places may not be the normal regions you think of when it comes to producing wine.

Nevertheless, these areas present a variety of fine vintages and a variety of types. For example, everyone has heard of the Concord grape, white grapes, purple, and red. There are grapes from Italy, France and California. There are also Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Mencia and Albarino grapes. When people think, of wine, they do think of California, France or Italy but there are also a number of excellent Spanish wines.

Many people do not consider these fine vintages because they are less known regions. However, the wines from regions such as Bierzo have even won awards for its high quality.

There are even organic wines now for those individuals who are looking to maintain an entirely organic lifestyle. Each type of grape is used to produce its own type of wine and there are several wines that are formed from combining the various types of grapes to form a new combination.

Wine can be a great way to break the ice at parties, wow your guests or provide a bit of social atmosphere to a business meeting or party. Wine is served at many dinners, many business deals and just about every party.

Some of the regions to look for if you are looking for wine outside the normal regions are Rioja, cigales, Castilla Y Leon, Requena, Bierzo, Jumilla, Vinos de Madrid, Ribera Del Duero, and Rias Baixas.

The Rioja is located in northern Spain. The area produces wine from the Tempranillo, garnacha tinta, graciano and mazuelo along with the viura, malvasia and garnacha blanca. It produces both Red and white wines.

The Cigales produces only a small quantity of wine because of its small growing area however; these wines are aromatic and usually have a rose rather than white or red. They normally feature Tempranillo. Castilla Y Leon is one of the larger areas for wine production holding five DO's and eight areas producing wine.

The Requena is one of the unique wines produced in Spain because of its location and climate. The other locations are similarly unique producing a variety of wine types and tastes to suit anyone.
