When you want to escape the stresses of everyday life, nothing beats a well deserved holiday. What better to take your mind off things than sun, sea and sand in one of the most beautiful locations around the world. The Maldives has it all, crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches, dazzling underwater coral gardens and a warm, tropical climate.

It's no surprise that snorkelling is such a popular pastime amongst tourists and even locals in the Maldives. In fact, it is one of the worlds top diving and snorkelling destinations due to the vast array of sea life that can easily be seen in the sparkling blue waters. The most ideal places to go for the best sights are in the shallow waters of the island lagoons, at the edge of reefs and at house reefs which are normally a few metres away from the beach.

With over 1,000 islands in the Maldives you are certainly spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding where to stay. Each island is just as beautiful as the next but they all have their own special characteristics that separate them from each other. One of the islands is Velidhu which is located in the North Ari Atoll and can be reached either by boat or seaplane.

There is plenty to do whilst staying on Velidhu Island whilst in the Maldives. There is a selection of activities on offer from scuba diving and water skiing to catamaran sailing and paragliding. It's not just water sports that are popular however as visitors can also enjoy badminton, beach volleyball, table tennis and much more.

Experiencing the nightlife in the Maldives is a must as it's a far cry from anything you are used to. Themed nights and nightclubs play jazzy Caribbean - like tunes that have a knack of getting everyone off their seats and on to the dance floor. Cultural shows are also very popular as it's a great way of finding out more about the typical Maldivian festivals and programmes.

The perfect combination of beautiful scenery, warm weather and a laid back lifestyle sees thousands of tourists fall in love with the Maldives every year. This is hardly surprising as you would be hard pressed to find anywhere else in the world that offers such beauty and charm.

What better to take your mind off things than sun, sea and sand in one of the most beautiful locations around the world.
