Many people abuse their hands every day at work, home and play, but neglect to consider proper daily hand care and nail care. Both men and women should be aware of the stress they put on their hands. Your hands take more abuse than just about any other external part of your body. Maybe your feet work a little more than your hands depending on your job and lifestyle and they need special care, too. But it is quite possible that your hands work harder even than your feet.
At Work
What kind of work do you do? Are you in the health care field where you wash your hands several times in an hour? You are drying out your hands every time you put soap on them. Healing hand care, in the form of hand creams, is essential to preventing painful cracked skin. Do you work outdoors, possibly in construction or landscaping? Protective hand care includes wearing gloves to ensure that your hands aren’t harmed by the natural environment you work in and to protect from splinters and thorns.
Do you work with food or with clothing? Nail care should be an important part of your daily regimen as well. Keeping your nails clean and neatly trimmed is healthier and provides better protection against snagging and tearing them. That can be painful!
At Home
Whether you work outside the home or in the home, your hands are exposed to household elements every day that cause stress to the hands and nails. Protective hand care should be used at home as well. Gloves should be worn when working with household chemicals or gardening to protect the hands and nails. Healing hand care lotions should be used after doing dishes or bathing the kids or dog. Excessive soap and water can dry out the hands very quickly.
If you work at home in your office, you are probably doing a lot of typing. This type of work requires nail care to keep your nails trimmed and protect them from cracking or breaking as a result of constantly tapping on the keyboard keys. This will also keep you from making a lot of typos because your nails are too long and hitting the wrong keys. Nail care can actually make you more productive in your job.
At Play
If you enjoy outdoor sports or other outdoor activities, you are exposing your hands to natural elements that can put stress on them. Protective gloves as well as healing hand care lotions and hand creams will do your hands a lot of good. Even if you prefer to play indoors, like at the gym, you need to use protective hand care such as gloves and hand sanitizer.
When you play with your children you won’t want your dry, cracked hands or snagged fingernails to scratch them. Healing hand care and nail care can prevent this from happening. With soft hands and well manicured nails, your kids’ sensitive skin will thank you for thinking about your hand care and nail care.
