Nothing is more valuable for sorting, filing and organizing paper documents than hole punches, otherwise known as paper punchers or perforators (by highly professional types anyway). Hole punches have not change much since their early inception.
Corporate hole punches come in many shapes and sizes. You can buy industrial strength branded hole punches to organize employee files or training manuals in a corporate setting. You can also buy smaller corporate hole punches for printed documents. Printed hole punches typically include information about punching holes into paper of specific sizes and lengths.
Selecting The Ideal Hole Puncher
While it may sound absurd there is an art to selecting hole punches. No two hole punches are made the same. There are promotional hole punches you can get at any office store for personal use or for use in your home office. You can also buy customized hole punches for a large office if you have a specific type of paper or hole punching need.
Personalized hole punches do not really exist except you can create customized hole punches using pre existing ones by setting the hole puncher in advance and ensuring the settings for hole punches do not change when others use the perforator.
Most often hole punches are used for collecting materials in a binder. You may have had your first experience with two hole punches or 3 hole punches while in grade school or after you landed your first office job.
History of Hole Punches
As with anything customized hole punches have a history, they didn’t just magically appear here on earth. The first perforator seems to have appeared during the late 1880s in Germany, where it was patented as a device used to simply put holes in paper. Makes sense given the name. Who would have known at the time that customized hole punches would have gained such an esteemed status in the world of office supplies and corporate stationary?
Most corporate hole punches operate using a lever that is lowered to create anywhere from one to three (average) holes in paper. You can find some customized hole punches to create more holes in paper although this is seldom necessary.
Customized Hole Punches vs. Personalized Hole Punches
There are corporate hole punches that are extremely customized to punch holes in as many as hundreds or dozens of sheets of papers at a time. This is a far cry from the personalized hole punches most people buy for their home office. These smaller personalized hole punches can usually punch holes in up to eight sheets at a time, although some advertise that they can punch more holes in paper (punching too many holes at a time can damage paper and the hole puncher).
Let the buyer beware… make sure the hole punchers you buy live up to their claims. If the hole punches you make do not come out well then take the hole puncher back and demand a new one. There is no reason these simple machines ought to fail in your moment of need.
