When most people think of paper hats they automatically think “party”. It is true… most promotional paper hats come with the party included. The same is true of corporate party hats which are usually only given out during company parties. What about other party paper hats?

You can for the most part make your own personalized paper hats. Customized paper hats seem like they are a lot of trouble. They can be if you want to make a Michelangelo of paper hats. For most ordinary people however paper hats are not hard to come up with. Here is how you work them.

• First, find a piece of paper. If you use printed paper then you will end up with a printed paper hat. Not too shabby.

• Make sure your paper is large enough to make paper hats. Usually newspapers work well.

• Fold a full sheet of the paper along the center to make a crease.

• Fold again to make the half rectangle into a diagonal triangle.

• Next, fold the top corner along the center line to form a diagonal crease…

Ok this is getting to be a bit complicated. If you want to make paper hats then fool around with your newspaper a bit. Everyone has probably made at least one customized paper hat during their lifetime. If you can’t remember how to make paper hats you can try to find some ideas online.

You are far better off however just asking your child or a neighbor’s kid to help you make a few party hats. Don’t feel embarrassed, we all have to ask a child for something during our lives. The truth is most children are a lot more intelligent than we give them credit for. They would gladly provide you with step by step instructions about how to create perfect paper hats whether for summer, spring, fall or winter.

Paper Hat Activities

Creating personalized paper hats is a favorite pastime. The tradition has been carried on for decades. Can you remember the first time you made a paper hat? If you do the chances are high you have a good memory of it. Many parents today are so busy they forget to take a time out to be with their kids.

If you find you are really too busy to do much of anything, why not spend a special ½ day or 1 day every 2 weeks to plan something really fun? You could venture over to the store; collect some material and come back home to make paper hats. How great is that? Your children (young and old alike) will laugh for hours on end as you toy around with the many different types of paper hats you can create like magic.

For added fun and festivities, why not have the kids paint the paper hats in their very own favorite colors! Once the hats are done drying you can let them eat the cereal off of their hat strap or rustle them up into the car to get home and show everyone their latest accessory, the one that didn’t cost a thing but the kids imagination.
