Changing Your Nose, Changing Your Face

If there was one thing on my body that I would love to change is my nose. However, through fear and financial impediment I highly doubt that the procedure will take place in my lifetime. Nevertheless, this is a thought provoking matter, as many people go through rhinoplasty without having prepared themselves with what the risks are. Famous actors and actresses are renowned for their obsession over aesthetic perfection; some have gone as far as completely changing their appearance that they become unrecognisable.

Undergoing rhinoplasty or getting a 'nose job' is not just about changing the shape of your nose, but it means that you will be changing how your face looks. For people considering going under the knife and chiselling that nose to perfection, they will need to do some much needed researching and learning prior to the procedure. Furthermore you will need to expect to go through a lot of time for bed rest, healing and more bed rest.

Rhinoplasty is more likely to change your life if your livelihood depends upon it. For instance if you are a model or actor/actress, changing your physical appearance may affect the amount of work you receive. The most famous of all nose jobs came from a promising rising star of the eighties, Jennifer Grey when she decided to change a distinctive feature of her face - her nose. Since then the actress has openly admitted to regretting the decision and experienced a dramatic reduction in the amount of work offered to her as she became so unrecognisable.

For some getting nose job will mean improving the way they look in order to try and boost their career prospect. However, if this is not carefully thought out it may completely change your appearance that your friends and family may not even recognise you. This is a decision that requires absolute certainty from the people wanting the procedure done, unless of course your physical appearance has no relevancy to your career.

Preparation is the key to an easy recovery period. For those wondering whether it is simply booking a consultation and then having the rhinoplasty surgery, then they will be disappointed with the fact that surgeons always recommend a few various things prior to having it done.

Surgeons will always go through the preparation procedure with you before anything has been confirmed. One important and essential way of preparing, as simple is it may sound it may not actually be a simple process for the individual at hand, is to give up smoking for a period before and after the procedure as this is likely to increase the risk of a chest and wound infection. Most people will find this difficult to do, however this it is important not to risk going through an infection which may alter and affect the healing process.

During the recovery process your nose will have undergone plenty of snipping and cutting. Therefore, for the first few days you will feel bunged up, restless and will need to become accustomed to sleeping upright on a stack of pillows. The first week will consist of no sniffing and controlled sneezing. The process will like it is slow, however it will even out and gradually heal into the new shape.
